Friday Night
September 4th
Backyard of the Dormouse
Wanda had nowhere to be. I had nowhere to be. So we decided that we were going to be nowhere... together. Which lead us over to the carnival. Friday and Saturday nights still tend to be busy, and we easily get lost amongst the people. Dinner of BBQ sandwiches, fries and cherry fizzes, followed by *what else?* funnel cake. Took her over to the L' Huere Verte for a drink, then to the Wunderkrammer to look at all the oddities. I point out all the real ones, then over to the games, where my girl wins ME a stuffed animal at the knife throwing booth. I seriously contemplate bringing her back with Mab to see if I can win my money back.
Hit a few shows, said hello to the twins and Genny, (who's looking really drawn and pale, must remember to visit her soon!), then the rides. We skip the bumper cars, because I LIKE my limbs, and ride them all.... I even convinced Wanda to ride the Ferris Wheel, but she spent the whole ride clutching me in a death grip with her face buried in my chest, trembling. My Wanda.... will stand up to the Gods themselves, but still terrified of heights. End with the Carousel, Zann's pride and joy... and we ride and kiss till Zann shoos us off for acting like a pair of teenagers.
We walk back home, sharing cotton candy, relaxed and laughing. The nights are growing cooler, but not uncomfortable, so we linger under our willow tree, Wanda settled on my lap, quietly kissing under the stars. Like we used to years ago. With a contented sigh, I pull away from her sugar coated lips and smile at her, resting my forehead against hers.
"Hello Kitten....where have you been lately? I've missed you."
