{Early Evening- Tuesday, 29th June ~ Day 394}
{Crossroads DanceHall}
Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive
And the world turning inside out, yeah
And floating around in ecstasy, so
Don't stop me now
Don't stop me
'Cuz I'm having a good time, having a good time
It is finally time to open the doors.
The lights are on- thanks to a couple folks from the fair who came out to help me with 'em. And the musics' done warming up now- sounds of instruments tuning and and the player's psyching each other up have given over to songs playing and feet stomping along.
A few brave souls have opened the dancing and there are mostly smiles all around.
So far so good.
A lot of the younger set know me by now from hiring them for the clean-up, and I put up some signs around town, so hopefully we'll have a good turn out.
And now that the greater part of the haying is done, people are in a good mood. People like to dance and come out and see each other when they're happy. Even in a strange town like this that holds true.
Smooth my skirt as I circle the floor towards the drink stand. I'll probably take a few turns of my own tonight, but mostly my job is to meet people who don't know me yet and get them to like me enough to come back. If the night continues like this, I do think it'll turn out fine.
The band starts another song, and I find my smile is genuine.
(The DanceHall is open to all! Come on in and have fun!)

Date: 2012-04-05 02:08 am (UTC)By some unspoken agreement we keep the talk light and meaningless as we walk over to the cafe and settle down with the milkshakes. It feels good going down and I sigh as I lean back from the first long sip.
Wanna talk? He asks and I remember that I hadn't planned on crying all over him like a kid. I had questions for him. About Verdi. An' maybe bout Iago as well. Though now that part of things doesn't matter anymore.
"Sure!" I tell him with a sort of grin, "If you;re willing to listen to me get a bit rambly. Oh an I maybe have some questions for you too. 'F you don't mind."

Shake my head. "Nope, don't mind a bit. Ramble on and fire away."

Date: 2012-04-05 03:16 am (UTC)"All right. You probably know some of it already. Like about some of the public shit. We've been arguing about stuff for awhile now. months. Little shit. big shit. An' somehow we kept trying to make it work. Tonight...guess we both got tired of trying."
I blink hard and look down at the table. "The question I have is one diffrent topic. S'bout Verdi." I look over at him. "Glass said you knew what she'd done."

Blink at her a few times. Okay, I know Glass has no love for Verdi, so I am not sure what she said to 'Ri, and about what.
"I know Glass has her own issues with Verdi..." I start, slowly. "And Verdi is... different and think's differently, not that it excuses things she might have done..." Chew on my lip, because I know what her and Gaueko did to Dorian, but I promised not to share that.
"What is it that Glass told you?"

Doc says slowly, guess maybe I took him by surprise with my question. An' maybe I wasn't all that clear either in what I said. Finally he asks, What is it that Glass told you?
I take another sip an' try to pull it together so it'll make sense when I tell him. "Glass told me that Verdi, that she...K-kills, killed people. An' left them. To die sometimes. An' that you. Knew." I look over at him, eyes wide with having said it.

Date: 2012-04-08 01:25 am (UTC)Well, this is a hell of a conversation starter.
Think about everything I know about Verdi before answering, because this seems important to her.
"I know Verdi hurt two people, one very badly. In both cases, I am not at liberty to divulge details. As to the killing of people..." Well, Dorian does count, but he's still alive and that's beyond complex. "I have been told she is responsible for some, but not by her or law enforcement. Is she capable? Yes, I believe so. But that was at a time when she was under the influence of something darker... and from what I know, he's no longer an influence."
Rake a hand through my hair. "Not exactly an answer, I know. She's been a friend to me, and I've dealt with a lot of scary shit that could kill me..." Laugh a little and shake my head. "Why the questions about Verdi by the way? Are you wanting to be friends with her? Trying to be nice and warn Jarmyn off?"
