{Early Evening- Tuesday, 29th June ~ Day 394}
{Crossroads DanceHall}
Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive
And the world turning inside out, yeah
And floating around in ecstasy, so
Don't stop me now
Don't stop me
'Cuz I'm having a good time, having a good time
It is finally time to open the doors.
The lights are on- thanks to a couple folks from the fair who came out to help me with 'em. And the musics' done warming up now- sounds of instruments tuning and and the player's psyching each other up have given over to songs playing and feet stomping along.
A few brave souls have opened the dancing and there are mostly smiles all around.
So far so good.
A lot of the younger set know me by now from hiring them for the clean-up, and I put up some signs around town, so hopefully we'll have a good turn out.
And now that the greater part of the haying is done, people are in a good mood. People like to dance and come out and see each other when they're happy. Even in a strange town like this that holds true.
Smooth my skirt as I circle the floor towards the drink stand. I'll probably take a few turns of my own tonight, but mostly my job is to meet people who don't know me yet and get them to like me enough to come back. If the night continues like this, I do think it'll turn out fine.
The band starts another song, and I find my smile is genuine.
(The DanceHall is open to all! Come on in and have fun!)

Date: 2012-03-22 11:11 pm (UTC)A careful little smile, a light laugh, "Not in the slightest!" But I can't meet her eyes and wish that I'd thought to glamour up a fan to play with or that I could hide the truth that is likely showing in my eyes. For in fact the girl did hurt me, all unknowing, by sheer chance. Mayhaps I should find some little way to make her pay for that.

Date: 2012-03-23 03:41 am (UTC)"No?" My voice is still quite gentle. "I am glad to hear it; that would make the only hurt hers." I shrug one shoulder absently towards the young woman, who is speaking with Micah now. It is quite a night for masks, I see. "Surely you must have seen how a rejection from one so fair can sting," I add in explanation, smiling.
"But that is a trifling matter. Madame, have you partaken of the fare?" I gesture towards the drinks, taking a half-step back and dipping into a subtle bow.

Date: 2012-03-24 09:38 pm (UTC)I think I have let myself be deceived by my first impression of these two. By the way they look. At home such a mistake could be dangerous. I hope it will not be so tonight. I cannot read her smile. It could mean so many things. However, her next words move us on beyond my little errors.
But that is a trifling matter. Madame, have you partaken of the fare? She says taking a half-step back with a very subtle dip and her moves gracefully as she indicates the drinks. My next smile is more genuine as I look them over.
"No, I have not. What would you recommend?"

Date: 2012-03-26 09:49 pm (UTC)and I do not miss the question she asks either, have you graced us long enough to have had a chance to try it? Nor the way she shrugs and reaches for a glass and offers to pour me some of whatever I choose. If I choose anything.
"I have not been here all that long," which is true enough, not even a full season yet. "And yourself? Have you traveled far to get here?"
The white looks cool and light and might taste a bit of something like home, the punch looks dark and a bit mysterious like the woman who offers it to me. The mead, something golden and rich but much as I might like it I do not want such a reminder of my sister.
I consider the remaining two drinks and then make my choice. "You may." I incline my head and indicate the bottle. It is indeed labeled Tingagel. "I will have a little of the white."

She turns her attention to the drinks. "I will have a little of the white," and I murmur assent, pour the wine and offer it to her.
"I do hope it suits," I say politely, waiting until she has taken it to pick up my own drink again.
