Syl shakes her head, Izzis 'bout th'lady't couldn't sleep?Look. Don't mean t'dash yer hopes, but'at thin's way beyond anythin' I got. I c'n load y'up wit' jes' 'bout ev'ry protection I got, an'I can't guarantee nothin'.
It is nice that she's concerned enough to make sure I understand, even if she seems to be saying that she can't help. The arrives and we take a short break from conversation to start eating. I use the time to think about what she's said and what I think happened. Maybe she could still help but only If I can find the right way to say it.
"It's not just Karina, and we aren't sure it was the Tower, but it hurt her once before so why not again? And there were the memories that Maryk lost and then got back just as suddenly." I look down at my food and then back up to Syl, who seems to be paying more attention to her food than to me right now. "Um... if you can't give me anything for protection could you maybe give us something else? Something maybe to help us hide from it?" A thought arrives in my head and I blurt it out before I can stop myself. "Unless the problem is that nothing you can do will affect it or what it can do..."
