Karina glances at me and it says everything I need it to. Chester's ears and tail move, which gives him the appearance of looking uncomfortable. Then he says it's got to tell Mab. I shift uneasily, my shoulder leaving the bookshelf as I stand upright. He lifts a paw, like it's a hand and he's telling us to wait before speaking.
"I swear, by my Element and my NAME, that it will be only a brief interview. Soon as I'm done, things can go back the way they are. I'll even help make sure that happens."
"No," I say, my voice dark and low. "What if it is dangerous and you can't control it? Even if you do swear by your 'element' and your 'name?'"
