I can feel her brief flash of irritation at my waiting for a good moment to kill Lucien, but it is soon replaced with her amusement at CeCe's antics.
"She'll know if we follow and disappointingly enough, no mischief, just play, But she's safe." Smile again. "Well, she's had no real example of mischief. Perhaps being around the other children will inspire some. And then, once she gets the hang of it... you can show her what real chaos is." My eyes sparkle at the thought.
I see I cannot keep the subject light, for she circles right back to my task. "But will you do what is necessary when the time is right?" Stare into her eyes right back.
"Oh, yes. Sentimentality be damned, I have CeCe to watch after. She, and you are the only purpose I have." And I mean that. "Now, if I knew that I would revert back once the light faded from his eyes, I'd walk in there right now, witnesses be damned. But since I am not sure, better safe than facing down a lynch mob."
I am not sure she will agree with that, but it's the bare truth. "And if I'm gone, then you'll be left with Iblis, and if from what I've heard is correct, he may be most unsurly company." Here's to hoping a bit of gosspi will distract her for the moment.
